Description:

This comprehensive webinar provides school psychologists with a deep dive into evidence-based practices for identifying and supporting students with reading-related learning disabilities. The session begins by examining national reading trends and the urgent need for improved instruction, highlighting concerning declines in NAEP reading scores. Participants are guided through the Science of Reading framework, including the Simple View of Reading and Scarborough’s Rope. The presenters offer detailed case studies and data analysis to illustrate how to interpret assessment results and distinguish between different types of reading difficulties. Emphasis is placed on selecting SoR-aligned assessment tools and linking results directly to instruction. Informal diagnostic tools such as PAST and QPS are discussed as essential complements to standardized testing. The webinar also reviews the importance of implementation fidelity and intensity in reading interventions. By the end, participants will be equipped with practical tools and insights to more effectively evaluate and support struggling readers.

Released in May 2025, this individual webinar can be purchased for $50 (scroll down to purchase). The content in this webinar is intertwined with Domains 1, 2, 3, and 5 of the NASP Practice Model.
