Another great tactic of SWPBIS is the creative ways to recognize students who are behaving according to expectations. Let’s say you wanted to bring attention to a fifth grade student, for example, who has demonstrated kindness by helping tie a first graders shoes. A school may have a Student of the Month, Featured Student for the Month of Caring, etc., and this student would be recognized with his picture on the wall. A small blurb would be shown below his picture stating the student’s kind actions that were in line with positive expectations (i.e. respect, caring, etc.).

A great way that technology can help enhance this is through the use of Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop allows you to paste the student in front of a cool background such as the White House, Harvard, or even outer space. This may sound like it would take a lot of time, but once you get the hang of it, you can do this in under 2 minutes. Through having attention-grabbing pictures, students will likely pay more attention to something such as a Featured Student of the Month. It is a fun way of raising student excitement about acting positively across all school settings. Lastly, it portrays the importance of positive behavior through showing attention to students following the expectations.
