Description:
This webinar provides school psychologists with a framework for integrating neurodiversity-affirming practices into counseling within school-based settings. The session reviews foundational concepts, builds a shared language, and encourages school psychologists to reexamine traditional practices through a neurodiversity-affirming lens. Attendees will learn how to apply key concepts such as the double empathy problem, communication differences, and sensory and regulation needs to better understand student behavior and engagement. Practical strategies are introduced to help school psychologists shift their thinking, language, and intervention approaches to better support diverse learners. Participants will leave with a clearer framework for providing counseling services that strengthen student identity, autonomy, and growth in school.
