Description:

This webinar builds on Part 1 by providing school psychologists with a deeper, applied understanding of how executive functioning impacts writing performance in school settings. Dr. George McCloskey uses a detailed student case to illustrate how difficulties with attention, orthographic processing, and graphomotor skills can interfere with written expression despite strong language abilities. Participants will learn how to differentiate between breakdowns in various areas of executive functioning through targeted assessment and observation. The session highlights practical, school-based interventions that can be used to build writing skills, improve engagement, and support student performance. Dr. McCloskey also demonstrates how scaffolding, feedback, and motivational strategies can help students build independence and confidence in writing. Attendees will leave with practical strategies and a clearer framework for supporting writing development in school settings.
